Rascallion Wines, premium négociant wine business based in Stellenbosch, South Africa, has appointed Terroir Wine Group as their exclusive importer for the USA, including Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
Terroir has an extensive network across over 30 states and territories in the USA. Rascallion’s managing director, Ross Sleet, explains: “The combination of professionalism, sales expertise and market knowledge that Terroir has, as well as the demonstrable success that they have achieved with the Spanish brand Lobetia in particular, convinced us that Terroir was the correct partner for our brand. We view the USA as our most important market globally, so our choice of partner was crucial. We are delighted to be able to work with founder Paul Clear and his brilliant team.”
Rascallion currently exports to Aruba, Canada, Germany, Finland, Kenya, Japan and Sweden as well as the USA. Since launching the brand in July 2019 in the USA, Terroir founder Paul Clear reports: “The interest and take-up of Rascallion’s wines have been phenomenal in diverse regions and across different channels. Our interest in South Africa as a category, where our view was that the country is under-represented in commercial mid-price points, has been borne out by the success of the Rascallion launch.”
Both companies have committed to aggressively driving the South African wine category forward, working with Wines of South Africa in the USA, as well as their distribution partners across the country. “We hope we can become a significant player in the South African wine category in the USA bringing Rascallion’s consumer-friendly brand to market with their fresh and exciting take on a new South African wine expression,” says Clear.
Currently, Terroir has four Rascallion wines on offer: From the Vinyl Collection, a Chenin Blanc blend and a Cinsault blend, and from the Word Collection, a Chenin Blanc blend and a Shiraz blend. The wines are line-priced in two tiers.
