Leader in the Art and Business World joins Port2Port.wine as Wine Ambassador.

The industrious Mandla Sibeko, founder of Seed Capital Ventures, with shareholding interests in some of South Africa’s most successful brands, including Netflorist, and shareholder and Director of South Africa’s biggest Art Fair, the FNB Joburg Art Fair, has just been named Wine Ambassador for South Africa’s most rapidly growing marketplace for fine wines: Port2Port.wine.
Sibeko, who became one of South Africa’s most celebrated young entrepreneurs in his mid-twenties when he opened one of the first Pick n Pay Stores in Soweto, was also responsible for the entire look and feel of the FIFA 2010 World Cup and in the same year Mandla was honoured by the World Economic Forum as Young Global Leader in 2010.
Today he is one of the country’s most respected businessmen.

Sibeko has a solid corporate base in retail, signage manufacturing and art, an affinity for South Africa’s small businesses, and a love for fine wine – a combination of interests which resulted in a natural gravitation towards Port2Port.wine, a new but vibrant addition to South Africa’s increasingly enthusiastic wine consumer landscape.

Now in its second year, Port2Port.wine, founded by business partners Nicolò Stortiglione Pudel and Vincent Bührer, offer an accessible luxury online experience for lovers of fine local and international wines and spirits. This platform allows consumers access to a virtual cellar filled with premium wines and spirits, shipped directly from the safety of wine cellars and perfect storage conditions at fine wine importers.
“I only invest in people and my passions and over the years I’ve focused my interests on businesses that I am passionate about,” says Sibeko, “as a wine enthusiast, and someone who has recently embarked on the path of becoming a knowledgeable wine collector too, Port2Port.wine, with its functional and aesthetic way of presenting wine and their stories, really appeals to me. I also appreciate how they have taken a ‘luxury’ concept and made it accessible. I’m honoured to join Port2Port.wine’s, Wine Ambassador programme, and look forward to building a following of wine enthusiasts who enjoy the culture associated with fine wine as much as I do.”

Port2Port.wine is South Africa’s first collaborative responder to wine consumers’ need for a collective online wine-buying experience, and ships products directly from South Africa’s top wine merchants like Wine Cellar and Reciprocal, as well as the cellars of South Africa’s most acclaimed wineries. However, in addition to a focus on best value, provenance, unique service and finest selection, Port2Port.wine also focusses on the stories surrounding their products, with interesting content shared via their weekly newsletters, and their portal called ‘Stories’.
This curated experience makes Port2Port.wine the obvious choice for wine devotees like Sibeko who, through their network of like-minded wine enthusiasts, play an important role in influencing and shaping wine-buying behaviour in South Africa.
Says Pudel: “We are incredibly happy to welcome Mandla on-board as a Wine Ambassador for Port2Port.wine as he truly encapsulates the values associated with SA’s growing fine wine culture. His international profile ties in with Port2Port’s international expansion plans, and his strong ties to the art world complements our market too and we are really looking forward to collaborate with Mandla on exciting projects in this sphere in 2017.”

Says Sibeko: “I’m really excited to share this exciting fine wine marketplace concept with individuals who appreciate fine wine and the associated lifestyle. To me, wine, art and fashion always presented a natural fit, and Port2Port.wine embodies all three in a unique way the SA market hasn’t seen before. Watch this space!”
